Based on class discussions, your notes, links on the wiki, your textbook and any outside resources you may want to consult, discuss at length the role of government, the economy and culture in the formation of media systems throughout the world. Make sure your essay focuses on answering the following question: Do these aspects of a country impose a structure on the media system or does the media system impose a structure on the country? Explain your reason for choosing one side or the other, or coming up with a separate argument that you must detail based on your research and beliefs. You may want to use specific countries as examples to illustrate your points. Your essay should be no more than 8 double-spaced, typed pages, including a bibliography of sources. Make sure you also include parenthetical attribution throughout your paper.
